John Smith of
Pittsburgh found his first freelance writing opportunity the same day
that he left his full time job for good. It was a lucky co-incidence,
and one which set him off in a whole new career direction.
John was bored of
working at his local library, but he had a very strong interest in
books. In the end, he decided that being an employee was not for him. He
wanted to branch out and do something more interesting and exciting. He
gave in his notice, and then started to wonder what kind of job he might
be able to find. He had never even thought of looking for a freelance
writing opportunity at this stage.
As luck would have it,
a friend of his knew an editor who was looking to commission an article
on changing careers. John was asked to write an article about his
experiences, and it was so successful that John decided to make a career
as a writer. All he had to do was find some relevant freelance writing
opportunity possibilities.
John looked for
freelance writing opportunity positions in the local paper, but didn't
find anything that was of any use to him at all. He tried contacting
local companies and publications, but still didn't have much look. He
was open to all kinds of possibilities – journalism, copywriting,
technical writing and much more. But nothing seemed to be available in
any of these fields.
John was at his wits
end. He now knew what he wanted to do for a living, but he just didn't
know how to get started. And then he came across
Freelance Work Exchange.
This online
jobs resources provided him with regular leads that he followed up, and
soon he had more work than he could handle. For John, this was the start
of a very promising new career.
